MIAMI - Reggaeton and Latin hip hop artists, including some in Miami, say they plan a petition drive to help one of their own get out of jail.
David Sanchez Badillo, a Puerto Rico-born reggaeton artist who goes by the name of "Tempo" and who lived in Orlando for a time, was jailed in 2002 and convicted on drug charges.
Now, a number of musical artists say they plan to gather 5 million signatures by June 30th, demanding his release. The group will launch their "Free Tempo" campaign Jan. 17 in Miramar, Puerto Rico.
The group includes artists Daddy Yankee, Tego Calderon, Luny Tunes, Boy Wonder "Chosen Few," Wisin y Yandel, Pitbull, Fat Joe, Echo and Hector "El Father."
Pitbull, Daddy Yankee and Fat Joe have Miami ties.
